Shawn Davis, 57, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.

Shawn Allen Davis was born on January 30th, 1968, in New Castle, WY, to Gary and Connie (Layton) Davis.  He grew up and attended school in Rawlins, WY, graduating from Rawlins HS in 1987.  Shawn married Denise Ryan in 1990.  They had 3 sons together.  Scott was born in 1991, Brett in 1993, and Corey in 1996.  While in Rawlins, he worked as a correctional officer at the Wyoming State Penitentiary.

In 1999, Shawn moved to South Dakota to pursue other correctional officer positions.  In 2001, he moved to Mitchell, SD, where he met and married Janelle Burdick in 2003.  They had 2 children together.  Connor was born in 2005, and Alexis in 2010.   Shawn held various jobs during his time in Mitchell. He spent the last few years of his life residing in Sioux Falls.

Shawn enjoyed lifting weights, building computers, and playing all kinds of video games.

Shawn is survived by his 5 children, Scott (Matti) Davis, Brett Davis, Corey (Jackiey) Davis, all of Rawlins, WY, Connor Davis, and Alexis Davis, both of Mitchell, SD; 6 grandchildren; one brother, Gary K. (Lucy) Davis of Buckey, AZ; and one nephew, Evan Davis of Lacey, WA.

He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Shawn will be interred with his parents at a later date.
