Sherrlyn K.
Garrow
Jun 24, 1947 — Jan 26, 2026
Mesa
Sherrlyn Kaye Garrow, age 78, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, with family by her side at Hospice of the Valley.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, February 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 335 W. 1st St., Tea, SD.
Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, February 5, at Miller Funeral Home Westside Chapel, 6200 W. 41st St., Sioux Falls, SD.
Sherrlyn was born on June 24, 1947, in Hurley, South Dakota, to Elmer Sweeter and Bernice (Larsen) Sweeter. She was raised on a farm near Worthing, South Dakota, alongside her three siblings, where she learned the values of hard work and family. She attended Canton High School and graduated in 1965.
On June 15, 1966, Sherrlyn married the love of her life, Lowell "Shorty" Garrow, at West Prairie Church near Lennox. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They were blessed with two sons: Chad, born in 1967, and Eric, born in 1969.
Sherrlyn and Shorty made their initial home near Worthing, SD, and later moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where they lived for approximately 39 years before Shorty's passing. Sherrlyn remained in Sioux Falls until she relocated to Arizona in 2016.
Sherrlyn worked for John Morrell's Corporate Office for several years before transitioning to a career at Good Samaritan National Campus in Sioux Falls. In 2012, she retired after nearly three decades of dedicated service.
She found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved fishing and treasured peaceful times spent at the river. Country music filled their home, and she and Shorty delighted in taking dancing lessons together, creating memories on the dance floor. In quieter moments, she enjoyed working on puzzles and getting lost in a good book. She would attend all of her grandkids and son's events, (football, softball, track, theater, dance competitions and music programs...)
Sherrlyn is survived by her son, Eric Garrow (Lisa) of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, Melissa Garrow of Brandon, SD; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with joyful anticipation for one more arriving in May; and her sisters, Karla Hill of Canton and Barb Schroder of Tea, SD.
She was welcomed Home by those who went before her: her husband, Shorty Garrow; her son, Chad Garrow, her parents, Elmer and Bernice Sweeter; and her brother, Garland Sweeter.
