Sherry Dee Johnson, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, peacefully passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. She was 79 years old.

Sherry was born in Gary, South Dakota, on November 27, 1944, to William and LaVerne Maxine (Johnson) Christensen. She attended public school and graduated from Lyons High School in 1962.

After high school, Sherry began her career in Omaha, Nebraska, before being transferred to New York City. She later moved to California to be near her aunt and worked as a flight attendant for Western Airlines. Sherry eventually became the head trainer for future flight attendants.

On June 17, 1967, Sherry married her soulmate, Douglas Johnson, at West Nidaros Church in Crooks, SD. The couple settled in Sioux Falls and had four children: Jaren, Jade, Josh, and Jersey.

Family meant everything to Sherry. She cherished being a mother and grandmother, and she adored her grandchildren. Sherry also loved to travel, shop, and collect various items.

Sherry is survived by her husband of 57 years, Douglas Johnson; her children, Jaren (Julie) Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Jade Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Josh (Michelle) Johnson of Sioux Falls, and Jersey (Francisco) Barrera of Sioux Falls; seven adored grandchildren; her sister, Diane (Leland) Brendsel; and her brothers, David Lee Christensen and Steven Lynn Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and LaVerne Christensen, and her aunt and uncle, Donna Mae and Ed Crocker.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Miller Southside Chapel, located at 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 2707 W. 33rd Street, Sioux Falls, SD.
