Shevi Lynn Herman, age 4 months, was called home to be with Jesus on June 7, 2025. She was born on January 14, 2025, in Michigan to her loving parents, Bailey and Harley Herman.

From the beginning, Shevi's life was marked by extraordinary strength and courage. During a routine anatomy scan at 20 weeks, doctors discovered Shevi had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a rare and complex congenital heart defect. Further testing revealed another diagnosis—18p- syndrome, a rare genetic condition. Despite these daunting challenges, Shevi entered the world with fierce determination and a spirit that inspired everyone who met her or followed her journey.

On January 5th, the family relocated to Michigan in preparation for Shevi's birth. At just six days old, Shevi underwent her first heart surgery. Shortly after, she was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia, a rare liver disease. On February 10th, Shevi arrived at the Mayo Clinic for additional treatment and closer proximity to home and family. She was soon transferred to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, where she underwent the Kasai procedure on February 21st. Shevi was briefly discharged on February 27th and spent precious time at home with loved ones.

Her journey continued with strength and resilience. On March 5th, Shevi was admitted to Sanford Children's Hospital due to ascending cholangitis, a serious bile duct infection. During this stay, she was also diagnosed with Hyperinsulinism, a condition causing excessive insulin production. On March 25th, Shevi was airlifted back to Minneapolis for specialized care.

On April 20th—Easter Sunday and her parents' first wedding anniversary—Shevi was taken by ambulance to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls due to breathing difficulties. After another hospital stay, she was flown back to Minneapolis on April 29th.

The following day, April 30th, her parents received the heartbreaking news that Shevi's liver was failing. Though a rare double heart-liver transplant was considered, her kidneys could not handle the stress of her liver and heart failing, and also began failing.  Due to a triple organ failure, her little body just couldn't handle anymore.

On Saturday, June 7th, surrounded by love, Shevi passed peacefully at the University of Minnesota Hospital.

Throughout her life, Shevi displayed a quiet strength and radiant spirit. Her chubby cheeks, strawberry-blonde hair, and fighting heart left a profound imprint on everyone who knew her. She taught us what it means to persevere with grace and to love without limits.

Shevi is survived by her devoted parents, Bailey and Harley Herman; grandparents, Mark and Tammy Bauman, and Joel and Kellie Herman; great-grandparents, Sheri Harner, Dorothy Bauman, Dale and LeighAnn Remme, and Richard and Clarice Herman; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who deeply cherished her.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her great-grandfathers, Larry Lukes, Larry Harner, and Orville Bauman; and her cousin, Jacob Gonnerman.
