Steve Weaver, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lived a life grounded in family and quiet passions, passed away on May 19th, 2026, at the age of 75 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Born in Faith, South Dakota, Steve graduated from Lead High School before serving two years in the United States Army. He then attended South Dakota State University, where he met the love of his life, Julie Meyer. The couple married in 1974, and both went on to graduate from SDSU. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and unwavering support for one another.

Steve enjoyed a long and successful career in media sales, first in Rapid City and later in Sioux Falls. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Above all, Steve cherished his family. He and Julie raised two sons, Jake and Jeff. He served as Cub Scout Den Leader for Jake and took violin lessons alongside Jeff—experiences that created lasting memories and strengthened their bond. In recent years, Steve found great joy in restoring vintage GI Joe toys, a hobby that reflected his lifelong love of history, the military, and attention to detail. He was also an avid baseball fan who rarely missed a Twins game.

Steve faced significant health challenges in recent years, particularly with both his upper and lower aorta. He became a passionate advocate for vascular health, urging friends and family to get a baseline screening to catch potential issues early. His resilience and desire to help others even during difficult times left a deep impression on those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Eleanor (Olson) Weaver, and his brother Lyle.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Julie (Meyer) Weaver; sons Jake (Amanda) Weaver and Jeff Weaver; grandsons David and Nicholas; and brother Joel Weaver.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in Steve's name.

A celebration of life and burial will be at Black Hills National Cemetery on July 28, 2026, at 9 a.m.
