Teri Gannon, 55 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away with family at her side on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 West 41st Street. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Life Change Church 6300 West 41st Street with burial at the Jasper City Cemetery.

Teri Rae (Petersen) Gannon was born December 31,1970 in Winner, SD. Just 5 weeks later she was adopted by Raymond and Mary (Hollister) Petersen of Sioux Falls, SD. When she was 10 years old, the family moved to Beresford, SD where she attended school until her senior year. Her family then returned to Sioux Falls, SD in 1988, and she graduated in 1989 from Washington High School. Following high school, she attended Black Hills State University for one year where she made lasting friendships that she still held precious to this day. She then returned to Sioux Falls to begin her career.

Upon returning to Sioux Falls Teri worked for Hutchinson Technologies and then went to work for Enviromaster as an office manager. She also served as a board member and treasurer for Family Worship Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

On August 27, 1994, Teri was united in marriage with Jon Gannon and together they built a life in Sioux Falls, SD. Over the years they were able to take trips together, experience many memorable moments, and grow in their faith. These are and were treasured times for them. Although opposites in many ways, their love of each other, and their commitment to make God the center, allowed them to experience 32 years of marriage. During their marriage Jon and Teri were blessed with three children, children she had prayed and waited on the Lord for.  She knew being a mother was a high calling, and made it a priority to raise them up to know the Lord; fervently praying for them without ceasing.

A beautiful, kind, and loving soul, Teri made many friendships over the years; the closest ones lasting for decades. She was always good at looking out for others and wouldn't hesitate to pray or offer encouragement. Known for her fun and spirited nature, many describe her as a force of nature and one of a kind. Many moments were spent laughing to the point of tears; her smile lit up her whole face. She enjoyed watching her sports teams and favorite shows, and couldn't wait to celebrate Christmas every year.

An avid reader, you would most always find Teri with a book in her hands, a real one she could hold with pages to turn. If she wasn't reading you would find her helping mom in the garden, helping serve in the church, or spending time with family. Being with family was so important to her, and she held close all the memories of family trips, get togethers, and Sunday dinners. She also loved reconnecting with her friends, reflecting on past times and laughing over the old stories. Teri held her extended family close to her heart, especially her nieces and nephews, and loved giving them nicknames. She had a way of seeing something special in each of them.

Above all, Teri was a believer in Jesus Christ, strong in her faith, and steadfast in her commitment to the Lord. At a young age she surrendered her life to Jesus and over the years, despite trials and tribulations, she grew in her faith. In the last few years Teri began to feel an urgency to make sure she shared Jesus as much as possible. It was rare to have a conversation where prayer, salvation, and hope were not mentioned. At the end of her journey, Teri's greatest hope and concern was not only that her whole family would be saved, but that all would be saved. She stated if this is what she had to sacrifice for one to be saved, she would do it over and over again. Teri was the hands and feet of Jesus, and we have no doubt she heard the words "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Jon Gannon, Sioux Falls, SD; her sons Kaden (Alex) Gannon, Sioux Falls, SD and Kolten Gannon, Sioux Falls, SD; her daughter Ashley (Garret) Olson, Sioux Falls, SD. Her sister Dana (Chris) Holm, Sherman, SD. Her brothers in law Brian (Lisa) Gannon, Howard, SD, and Dan (Pam) Gannon, Sioux Falls, SD; and her mother-in-law Diane Gannon Sioux Falls, SD; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Teri was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Mary (Hollister) Petersen, her father-in-law George Gannon, and her grandparents.
