Theresa Marlaine (O'Leary) Hill, 72 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at the Sanford USD Medical Center.

A visitation with the family present will begin at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Sioux Falls, SD. A luncheon will be held immediately after the service. Burial will take place Thursday, February 20, 2025 , at 2:00 p.m. at the Elk Point Cemetery in Elk Point, SD.

Theresa was born to Leo Daniel and Frances Joyce (Valle) O'Leary on December 16, 1952, in Sioux City, IA. They lived in Sioux City for a short time before moving to Virginia, where they lived until the passing of Theresa's mother, Joyce. The O'Leary family eventually moved back to Sioux City where Theresa attended Heelan High School and graduated in 1972.

Theresa attended Briar Cliff University and earned a degree in cosmetology from Nettleton College.

She was previously married to Peter Hill (Rock Rapids, IA). Her dream from a young age was to be a mother. That dream was fulfilled when together they had two daughters, Molly and Erin.

In her later years, Theresa shared a loving and fulfilling life with her partner, Mark Wood. Mark was a constant source of support and companionship and Theresa's family greatly appreciated the care and love he gave her.

She filled her days with quiet hobbies, including reading, doing puzzles and watching TV. She found her greatest joy in the time spent with her grandchildren. Their laughter and love brought her immeasurable happiness, and she cherished every moment spent with them reading stories, playing games, and being silly together.

Theresa is survived by her daughters Molly Hill and Erin (Michael) Olson, her beloved grandchildren Linden and Meredith Olson, and William Korthals, her partner, Mark Wood, her siblings: James O'Leary, Terrance O'Leary, Thomas (Shirley) O'Leary, and Stephen (Patricia) O'Leary and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Frances O'Leary, her sisters Sr. Kathleen O'Leary, FEHJ and Lynn O'Leary, as well as her brother, Charles O'Leary.
