Thomas William Schultz
June 24, 1954 – June 22, 2025

Thomas William Schultz, age 70, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, just two days shy of his 71st birthday.

Thomas was born on June 24, 1954, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. As an infant, he moved with his family to Brookings, South Dakota, where he would grow up and spend many formative years. He attended school in Brookings and developed an early admiration for Superman comics — a symbol of hope and resilience.

A proud graduate of Brookings High School, Class of 1972, Thomas went on to attend South Dakota State University and held several jobs in the Brookings area, including at Larson Manufacturing. In 2002, he began working for Walmart in Sioux Falls, first in the pharmacy department before transferring to produce — a role in which he excelled and took great pride. Over the course of 23 years, Thomas became a familiar and dependable face to coworkers and customers alike. He retired after decades of dedicated service.

In his final chapter, Thomas faced his cancer diagnosis with strength, humility, and quiet resolve. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, subtle humor, and commitment to doing a job well — no matter how big or small.

Thomas is deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Grateful for having shared his life are his brother Steven (Barbara) Schultz, La Vernia, TX and sister Teresa Callies of Minneapolis, MN.

Thomas was preceded in death by parents, Forrest and Helen (Kakonis) Schultz.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
