Thomas Moxnes died peacefully on September 5th, 2026 at VA Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD. He was 78. 

Tom was born on June 19th, 1948 in Sioux Falls, SD to Florence and Thomas Moxnes. He was brother to three sisters and was a rambunctious and rebellious teenager.

He graduated from Black Hills State College in 1977 with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Photography. After serving in the US Army, Tom met and married the love of his life, Margaret. They lived together in Sturgis, SD, where they had their daughter, Bonnie, in 1987. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1995.

 Tom was a passionate and avid photographer, reluctant outdoorsman, and tinkerer who enjoyed getting his hands dirty for the sake of bringing classic motorcycles (or any machine with working parts) back to life. He was a neighborhood grouch with a heart of gold; he wouldn't hesitate to help a neighbor, but secretly would grumble about how they wouldn't have been able to do any task without his assistance. He was a Midwestern man through and through who loved his family and friends. He would want nothing more than a coffee and a bun to enjoy on a warm afternoon with them.
