Timothy Edward Werner, fondly known as Tim, was born on November 16, 1952, in Leigh, Nebraska, to the Reverend Edward and Dr. Luetta (Grotelueschen) Werner. He departed this life peacefully on Columbus Day, October 13, 2025, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Following in the footsteps of his uncles who bravely served their country during World War II, Tim enlisted in the United States Army and celebrated his eighteenth birthday on the battlefields of Vietnam. While serving as crew chief on a UH-1H helicopter gunship in the Vietnam theater of operations, he earned the Cross of Gallantry with Palm and multiple Air Medals for his service and valor.

After returning home from an unpopular war bearing invisible scars, Tim poured his energy into work and study. He graduated from the University of South Dakota and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, preparing for a life of service to others. With his warm, congenial, and compassionate nature, he found his calling as a licensed funeral director, embalmer, and crematory operator—often honoring fellow veterans by playing "Taps" on his trumpet at military funerals.

Tim was a life member of VFW Post 3494, AMVETS Post 16, and VFW Post 628. He also served as president of Gideons International and was a dedicated member of the Lions Club.

He dearly loved and cherished time spent with his children, grandson, siblings, and friends. Those who knew him remember his kindness, humor, and steadfast heart. He is survived by his sons, Joshua and Jonathan (Alexys); daughter, Rosa; grandson, Jaxson; fiancé, Barbara Lundy; sisters Kathy (Wayne) Graumann, Rachel (Cray) Little, Priscilla (Dennis) Jurkovich, Ruth (Lynn) Stuhr, and Rhoda (Shane) Thorell; brother, Dan (June) Werner; and many other beloved friends and extended family.

Baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith, Tim now rejoices in heaven with his parents and his brother, Paul, who preceded him in death.
