Trevor Jason Small, age 33, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at his home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home – Southside Chapel (7400 S Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD). A visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Miller Funeral Home – Southside Chapel, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 pm. To honor Trevor's memory and love of football, please wear your favorite NFL gear to his visitation. In lieu of flowers a memorial donations will be put into an account for Trevor's nephews' future educational endeavors.

Trevor was born on October 25, 1991 in Huron, South Dakota to Ann (Eilertson) and Jason Small. In late 1993, his mom married Jeff McDonald and he became his dad and #1 supporter.  Trevor was one-of-a-kind, unique to the world around him. He was one of first children on the autism spectrum that attended the newly developed Tea area school district. He had a supportive family that advocated for him so that he could succeed in a world where he was not always understood. Trevor achieved good grades and graduated from Tea Area High School in 2010. After school, Trevor truly liked to work and rarely missed a day. He worked a variety of dishwashing jobs in the area, lastly being at Dave and Busters, which he loved.

Trevor's life was full of adventures, as his family was focused on giving him as many experiences as they could. He was incredibly well traveled, including attending Steelers games across the country with his father, Jeff. He traveled to Florida many times to visit the beach, Disney World and Universal Studios. He was competitive and completed multiple challenges at Fear Factor in Universal Florida, including taking on a big cup of blended bugs to take the win. His family took a special road trip with family friends hitting the highlights of his special interests. This included a visit to the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, the Rock and Roll Hall of fame in Cleveland and days spent touring Washington, DC. Senator Tim Johnson arranged for him and his group to see sights most do not get the opportunity to visit including the famous rooms of the White House, the Pentagon, and the state Capitol including riding the tram that the senators take from their offices to the floor of Congress, along with many more sights. On the way home, he got to experience his first visit to Heinz Field to see the home of his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He would return in later years to see a game there. One of his most memorable trips was specifically inspired by the blockbuster movie, The Hangover, a boys' trip to Las Vegas. Though he kept to himself around people he wasn't familiar with, Trevor was fearless in many aspects. He went parasailing and skydiving. He even managed to talk his mom into going with him to celebrate her 50th birthday. Any upcoming trip or adventure was exciting for Trevor, and he loved helping his mom and dad plan the next one.

Trevor loved to learn about his special interests, notably the US Presidents, sharks, and football trivia. He called in to a radio trivia show and stumped the DJ with his almost encyclopedic knowledge of former presidents, however, there is no doubt that his favorite was football. Trevor could recall moves and scores from games that occurred well before he was even born. Though Trevor rarely took any time off, he would for the NFL draft. Sharing his knowledge was his way of connecting to others.

The only thing that would come before his love of football was his love of family. Trevor always wanted a family of his own and he channeled that wish into spending as much time with his nephews as he could. He was the fun uncle, always wanting to play games or go to activities and events with "the boys". Trevor was as involved as he could be in their lives, planning out birthday presents well in advance and calling frequently to see when they could get together next. When he was young, Trevor was a bit of a prankster that played practical jokes on his sisters and grandparents. His goofy attitude would lighten the mood of those around him, and he would also show his care and love for his family members in his own way. He got into many antics with his sisters while younger, playing pranks on his grandparents, playing dinosaurs and Pokémon, and coming up with creative, and somewhat endearing nick names. The family dogs also held a special place in Trevor's heart, especially Gretzky, a golden retriever that he loved dearly.

Grateful to have shared Trevor's life with him are his parents, Ann Marie and Jeff McDonald of Tea, SD and Jason and Shannan Small of DeSmet, SD; his sisters, Caitlyn (Jacob) Schneiderman of Chancellor, SD and Courtney (Chase) Ellis of Tea, SD; his nephews, Henry, Sutton, and Benson Schneiderman; his half-brothers, Alec Small of Westminster, CO and Christian (Kelsey) Small of Huron, SD; his grandparents, Eldon and Beverly Eilertson of Brookings, SD, Duane McDonald of Yankton, SD, and Barb Small of Sioux Falls, SD; his aunts and uncles, Darren (Mary) Eilertson of Aurora, SD, Michelle (Shawn) Boese of Yankton, SD, Jason (Michelle Despres) McDonald of Denver, CO, Jamie (Chris) Buckley of Sioux Falls, SD, Julie Schutt of Watertown, SD, John (Heidi) Small of Sioux Falls, SD, Joe Small of Bancroft, SD, and Jodi (Rob James) Small of Chesterfield, ENG; his cousin, Stacey Eilertson of Brookings, SD; and his special family friends, Tom and Shannon Grimmond, Rick and Annette Waldner, and Jacki and Richard DeLong; and many extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Craig Small; his grandmother, Illraye McDonald; and many family pets that are surely waiting to greet him.
