Valerie Kay Lustfied, 50, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, March 27, 2025, under hospice care at Ava's house.

Valerie was born August, 12, 1974, in Hendricks, MN, to Larry and Janice (Kompelien) Lustfield.

Valerie grew up in Lake Benton, MN, where she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, 4-H Club, and attended Lake Benton Public School and college at SDSU. She lived in MN, SD, CO, and NC, settling in Sioux Falls, SD, where she worked in management for multiple retail stores and then in food delivery.

In 1993, she and Mike Medema were blessed with their daughter Heather.  Valerie married Victor Terry in 1999 and they later divorced.

Valerie loved to travel and her best memories are of the car trips across the country with her daughter Heather.  They also enjoyed attending concerts, fishing, and holiday baking together.  Valerie enjoyed woodworking, crafting, antiquing, and collecting and selling precious moments figurines, which she worked on all hours of the night with her dog Charlie in her lap.  She was an entrepreneur at heart and dreamt of owning her own business. Valerie's happiest moments were spent with her beautiful and hilarious grandaughter Mya.

Grateful to have shared her life are her daughter, Heather (Medema) Hudelson (Dyllan), and grandaughter, Mya Hudelson of Sioux Falls, SD; mother, Janice Lustfield of Brookings, SD; step-mother, Julie Lustfield of Algona, IA; brothers, Steve Lustfield of Volga, SD, Bob Lustfield of Balaton, MN; sister, Monica (Lustfield) Kinner of Sioux Falls, SD; nephew, Chris Lustfield; nieces, Tabitha Lustfield, Megan Lustfield (Stephanie Martinez), Kelsey Lee, Kristina Emery (Jarrad), Miranda Antony (Scott), Jataya Ford; great-nephews, Roman, Walter, Wyatt; great-nieces, Melanie, Ruby, Wrenlee; and many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Lustfield (Julie); sister-in-law, Wendy Lustfield (Bob); and multiple grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will be present for visitation from 2:00-4:00pm Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Miller Westside Chapel, 6200 W 41st Street in Sioux Falls, SD.  There will be a short prayer service beginning at 3:00pm.  The interment will take place at a later date at the Canby City Cemetery, Canby MN.
