Verne M. Carlson, 90, of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on June 20, 2025, remembered for his gentle and quiet nature, his devotion to his beloved wife Doris, and his steadfast work ethic. Raised on a farm near Garretson, Verne learned the value of hard work from a young age—a quality that remained with him always. In the 1950s, he joined his father at Carlson TV Repair, helping establish a family business that became a well-known fixture in Sioux Falls.

A quiet, unassuming man, Verne was deeply devoted to his wife, Doris Psychos Carlson, whom he married in 1984. Their life together was marked by love, loyalty, and mutual support. Doris preceded Verne in death in 2020, and he now joins her in eternal rest. Doris' daughters survive him: Cindi Psychos (Mary Eagleson) of Jamestown, ND, and Cassie Soeffing (Bill) of Sioux Falls, SD. Verne was a proud grandfather to Charles Soeffing (Katie) and their children, Tenley and Ryken, as well as to Wilson Soeffing. He was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church, where he found fellowship and a sense of purpose for many years.

Verne's commitment to his community extended beyond his work and family. He volunteered at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum, where he was primarily known for his involvement in many pumpkin carving events in the fall and for planting and tending flowers throughout the zoo grounds. His dedication helped make the zoo a more welcoming place. For several years, he was on the for the Minnesota Avenue Association and participated in archery tournaments held by the Minnehaha Archery Association.

Verne will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to Doris and his love of lefse. A celebration of his life will be held in Sioux Falls, with details to be shared with loved ones. His legacy endures in the hearts of all who knew him.
