William Richard was born on December 20, 2002, in Sioux Falls, SD to Gina C. (Jacobs) and Donn R. Fischer. He was raised and received his education in Sioux Falls, SD and Lenexa, KS. Will moved to Lenexa, KS in the summer after his 8th grade year in 2017.
Throughout his lifetime, Will collected many nicknames to include Otis, Willy J and Mittens.
Will discovered his passion in life after a birthday party at iFly Indoor Skydiving. While he persistently tried to get hired at iFly after he turned 18, he had a short but successful career in sales at Spectrum. On August 15, 2024, he landed a job at iFly, Will was an avid parachute jumper who was on his 200th jump that would have qualified him to be an instructor when the plane crash occurred. William was always a thrill seeker and had also taken up base jumping in the last few years. Although some of these jumps were not always done legally, he had plenty of friends to keep him (in and) out of trouble.
Will's determination, adventurous nature, love of flying, and willingness to chase what brought him joy will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by every life that he touched including too many friends to count, coworkers, and the skydiving community.
Grateful for having shared his life are his parents, Gina (Tom) Jacobs; Donn (Bridget) Fischer; siblings, Jessica (Brodie) Elyea, Josie Fischer (Johnny), Samuel (Hannah) Jacobs and Lydia Jacobs; grandparents, Diane Clemetson, Bill & Connie Fischer and Dan & Cindy Larsen; great grandma Vina LaFave; aunts and uncles Dawn Clemetson, Lyndee (Roy) Griffith, Tya (Ray) Nordstrom, Tami (Chad) Hughes and Jenny (Aaron) Jorgensen and numerous cousins. Will was preceded in death by his grandfather Richard Clemetson.
