Walter Mueller, rural Tea, SD, died March 15, 2018, at Good Samaritan Luther Manor. He was 88.

Walter P. Mueller was born December 3, 1929, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Philip and Mary (Bocker) Mueller. He attended country school, then assisted his parents on the family farm.

In 1950, Walter joined the US Air Force and was stationed overseas during the Korean War. In 1953, after receiving his honorable discharge from the service, he returned home and continued helping his father on the farm. Following his dad's retirement in 1954, Walter farmed on his own.

Walter met the love of his life, Eunice Christopherson, at the Arkota Ballroom. The two were married in April 1956. The couple then began raising their family. Walter and his sons enjoyed fishing and watching NASCAR. In later years, Eunice and Walter enjoyed wintering in Mesa, Arizona. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2011.

Walter had a solid midwestern work ethic. Simply put, when something needed to be done, he did it.  Throughout his entire life, he would never turn down a request for help, and often would offer assistance without waiting to be asked. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching his crops each year.

Friendly and loyal, Walter was a man of integrity and honesty. His memory will be forever cherished.

Grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Ron Mueller, Sioux Falls, SD, and Rick Mueller, Tea, SD. In addition to his wife, Walter was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Philip, and a sister, Jean.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Wednesday March 21, 2018, at Miller Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Avenue. (81st and Minnesota Ave.) Visitation will be from 5-7 Tuesday evening at Southside Chapel.
