Lee McManus, 60 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Avera McKennan Hospital after a sudden illness.



Lee V. McManus, son of Leo 'Red' and Dorothy (Link) McManus, was born on July 19, 1947, in Watertown, SD. At a young age he moved to Sioux Falls where he attended and graduated from O'gorman High School in 1965. He then attended college at the Colorado Institute of Art and graduated with a Graphic Arts Degree. He then spent time in Minneapolis and Kansas City before returning to Sioux Falls, SD. He owned and operated Sign Design and later worked for Modern Press before beginning a career with EROS Data Center as a Creative Arts Director for 27 years until present.



Lee was introduced to Marilyn Bowar through her brother Ed and the couple was united in marriage on May 6, 1989, in Bigstone, SD.



Lee was a man of many talents and interests. A true outdoorsman, Lee liked to hunt but mainly cherished the time spent outdoors. He delved deep into the arts and worked with pastels, portraits, photography, and had the craftsmanship to even build his own boat. An ear for music, Lee was learning to play guitar and liked many different areas of music including the blues and folk music. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer's fan, wrote for the South Dakota Digest, and was faithful to his Irish heritage. A caring man, Lee loved to spend time with his children and especially his grandchildren.



Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Marilyn, Sioux Falls, SD; a daughter, Maurine Ulmer, her husband Shawn, and their children Ian and Ashlyn, Sioux Falls, SD; a son Erin McManus, his wife Jill, and their children Rory and Keira, Sioux Falls, SD; his mother, Dorothy McManus, Sioux Falls, SD; three sisters, Colleen Kessler, Leawood, KS, Shawn Mulloy, Melbourne, Australia, Jill Netwal, Kansas City, MO; and many other relatives and friends.



Lee was preceded in death by his father Leo; and infant sister Bridget; and a brother-in-law, Tom Kessler.



In lieu of flowers, the McManus' request that memorials be directed to the family for later dispersement to charities in Lee's honor.



A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 7pm on Monday, February 18, 2008, in the Great Hall of the Washington Pavilion with fellowship to follow. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
