Arlene Kaye Clark, 82, passed away peacefully in Sioux Falls, SD on January 17, 2026.

Visitation will be held 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Miller Funeral Home (Southside Location) 7400 S. Minnesota Ave, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am at Miller Funeral Home (Southside Location) on Friday, January 23, 2026. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2001 S. Cliff Ave, Sioux Falls, SD will follow the Funeral Service.

Arlene Kaye Clark was born November 14th, 1943 in Sioux Falls, SD to Roy and Dorris (Johansen) Rise.  She attended Sioux Falls public schools until the family moved to Rapid City.  Upon the family's return to Sioux Falls, she attended and graduated from Washington Senior High School in 1961.

On March 12th, 1965, she was united in marriage to Gaylord Clark, Sr. in Sioux Falls, SD.  In 1965 their daughter was born followed by their son in 1968.  In 2008 they welcomed their grandson to the family. In 2009 Arlene retired from the Argus Leader newspaper after working there for 26 years.

Arlene was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed participating in social events and community service projects with the members of her sorority.  She also enjoyed gardening, baking, attending her children's activities and events, and spending time with her grandson.  Arlene enjoyed learning about the history of South Dakota, especially Sioux Falls and Rapid City.  Arlene traveled to Alaska and Texas on visits to see her children while they were living there.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Gaylord, Sr.; daughter, Leslie Clark, Sioux Falls, SD; son, Gaylord Clark, Jr. (Carrie); grandson, Michael Clark; and brother, Darrell Rise.  She was proceeded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Christina Clark.
