Obituary

Ashley Schmidt, 30, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of March 23, 2022, in Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, March 30 at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.

Memorial Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 29 at the funeral home.

Ashley Jeanne Schmidt was born on February 8, 1992 in Sioux Falls, SD to Todd J and Laura J (Dimick) Schmidt. She attended Harvey Dunn Elementary School, Patrick Henry Middle School, and graduated from Lincoln Senior High in 2010.

Ashley worked for nine years as a server at various restaurants, enjoying the interaction with her customers. She always wanted to find a way to make them laugh. Frequently, she was given the big top tables and customers were quick to complement her service. The last few years she transitioned into office work including some time at PREMIER Bankcard and received many accolades for her ability to show compassion and empathy towards her customers.

In 2015, Ashley received a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) which challenged her in many aspects of her life. Despite the struggles, she didn't let it control her life or stop her from living life to its fullest.

Ashley enjoyed cooking, music, movies, and making braided bracelets. She had fun trying different hair dos and experimenting with makeup. Ashley looked forward to time spent with family, adored her nephew and nieces and Sunday dinners with her parents. A very special part of her life for the past seven years was her dog, Buddha.

Grateful for sharing her life are her parents, Todd and Laura Schmidt, Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Justin (Devon) Schmidt, Minneapolis, MN, Travis (Erin) Schmidt, Mesa, AZ; one maternal nephew Weston and 5 nieces, Rori, Blaire, Averie, Sydney and Layla Schmidt; step grandmother Fay Dimick, Brandon, SD; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Nyla and Paul Nelson, William Dimick, and paternal grandparents James and Marlys Schmidt.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to the MS Society or an animal shelter/rescue of their choice.
