In 1939, the family moved to Sioux Falls, SD where she grew up and graduated from Cathedral High in 1947. As a teenager, Patricia served in the Civil Air Patrol during WWII. As a young woman, she worked in the office of a John Deere Dealership. She was united in marriage to Thomas Flanery on July 25, 1953 in Sioux Falls. The couple made their home in Milbank, SD, where in addition to being a homemaker, Patricia worked as executive secretary to her father in-law at the Flanery Sausage Company. Tom passed away in 1956 and Patricia returned to Sioux Falls. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and showed much courage during those trying times. On January 20, 1962, she was married to James Olson in Sioux Falls, where she continued being a loving homemaker and mother. Patricia and James had a mutual passion for horse racing and owned several horses. James preceded her in death in 1977. Patricia was a long-time member of St. Lambert's Parish, and devoutly prayed the Rosary daily. She loved to play cards and could always be counted on to work the polling stations during elections.
