Richard "Dick" Cook, Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Sanford Hospital on January 19th, 2026 after a sudden illness. He was 80 years old.

**It was Dick's request we dress casually when coming to visitation at the funeral home .

A Prayer Service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, January 26 at Miller Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 7400 S. Minnesota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD with the family present from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm to greet friends.  Burial will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 27, at St. Michael Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.

Dick was born November 30th 1945, to Don G Cook and Elizabeth W. (Winans) Cook in Sioux Falls, SD.

He attended USD and Nettleton Commercial College where he met his wife, Deborah D (Kelley) Cook. They were united in marriage January 30th 1968.

Dick enlisted in the Army in 1968 and left for Vietnam shortly after they were married where he served for one year. After returning to the U.S. the couple resided in Ft Leonard Wood, MO until he was honorably discharged.

Moving back to Sioux Falls, SD the couple purchased a home and were blessed with two children, Kelley L. Dodd (Kyle)  and Rebecca E. Johnson (Corey). As luck would have it,  Robert Gonzales (Lisa) would become a bonus son at 18 years old. Dick's pride and joy were his six wonderful grandkids Jonah, Jacob, Isabella, Jordyn (Tyus) , Selena, and Gage. In addition to his humans, he is also survived by his loyal companions and grand dogs Karma, Skye, and Halo.

During his life, Dick devoted 56 years to Real-estate in Sioux Falls and the surrounding community.  The Company JJ Roberts and Cook Reality was started in 1909 and passed from JJ to Don and then finally to Dick. He received many awards over the years.

Dick and Debbie started collecting antiques, clocks, pin ball, and coin op machines early in their marriage resulting in over 400 clocks. He taught himself to repair clocks and would spend hours enjoying the challenge that each clock repair brought. In 2012, he and his wife built their forever home South of Harrisburg, SD. He spent hours enjoying his acreage feeding the pheasants and deer and enjoyed each sunrise and sunset on the prairie.

Dick was a gracious, caring, positive, and kind man and everyone who met him enjoyed his company. He will be sadly missed!

Dick was preceded in death by both Parents, Don and Bettie, his sister Mary, a brother Robert, and his beloved dog Bentley whose ashes will be joining him to his final resting place.

In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made in his name to any local animal rescue.
