Obituary

Sheryl Lee Larson, 80, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at her home in Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 9, 2026, at St. George Catholic Church (408 S. Western Ave., Hartford, SD). The family will greet friends for visitation from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Miller Funeral Home - Hartford Chapel (600 S. Western Ave., Hartford, SD), with recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:30 PM.

Sheryl Lee Larson was born July 20, 1945, to Joseph and Ada (Storm) Deters. She grew up and attended public school in Hartford, SD. On June 2, 1962, she was united in marriage to Larry Lee Lester Larson Sr. Sheryl and Larry worked side by side for many years operating an antique business. Sheryl also worked as an LPN at McKennan Hospital, eventually acquiring her BSN from the University of South Dakota in 1984. Following her husband's death in 1986, Sheryl became a single mother, raising four children and working as an RN at various medical facilities. She retired in 2007 due to health issues. Sheryl enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, cross-stitching, thrifting, and her cherished cat, Garfield.

Sheryl is survived by her children, Larry (Chantel) Larson Jr., Chris (Dave) Schmitt, Chad (Amanda) Larson, and Greg (Elyse) Larson;  grandchildren, Cade (Paige) and Chloe Schmitt, Bradley, Drake, Lily, and Waylon Larson;  great-grandchild, Jean Larson; special niece, Stacy (Terry) Kampshoff and children, Sami(Austin) Bultsma and daughters, Brielle and Kinsley, Katelyn, Jaxon, and Kannon Kampshoff; niece, Sarah (Pete) Simpson; nephew, Michael Deters; sisters-in-law, Juanita Sweeney, Jackie Lund, Fran Larson, Lily Deters; and dear friend, Rose Garness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Larson Sr.; grandparents, Ernest and Ida Storm; parents, Joseph and Ada Deters; brother, Anthony; sisters, JoAnn, Geri, and Susan; and sister-in-law, Jean Deters.
